Anybody who quotes The Seven Samurai and Battleship Potemkin as their favorite movies have been reading the books that say that these movies SHOULD be on your list, or your not a film buff.
What actually qualifies a film to be linked to a certain country? Is it the money men? Or does there have to a be a percenrage of people who work on from that counrty? LOTR, New Zealand?

Hey there.
I agree as far as Battleship Potemkin is concerned. Its a russion propaganda film for chuffs sake.
But The Seven Samurai IS a great fuckin movie. That along with Yojibo are my fave Kurosawa films.
You should go and watch them.

rashomon is awesome too, as are kagemusha, ran, hidden fortress, sanjuro, and throne of blood, shit, all of kurosawa akira's movies are awesome...

Seen them both. Your right about the seven samurai, but it doesnt go in my top ten, amybe top twenty.
